In 2005 there were 35,300 fires recorded in buildings other than dwellings. The majority of fires occured in

• Private garages and sheds(20%) - 7000 fires

• Retail Distribution (13%) - 4600 fires

• Restaurants, Cafes, Public Houses etc (8%) - 2900 fires

• Industrial Premises(excluding construction sites) (8%) - 2700 fires

• Recreational and other cultural services(6%) - 2300 fires

In 2005, 27 people died in these fires.
